03/04/08 - Tom Barnicoat joins Somethin' Else board

Tom Barnicoat, the former chief operating officer of Endemol, joins Somethin' Else as a non-executive director.

The move is Barnicoat's first since he left Big Brother producer Endemol in March last year after failing to take control of the Netherlands-based firm as part of a management buy out.

Barnicoat, who has 30 years' experience in the TV industry, was previously chief executive of Endemol UK before stepping up to become chief operating officer for the Endemol group worldwide.

Somethin' Else said Barnicoat's role would be to help the company "drive forward its commitment to growth in both revenue and value".

Sonita Alleyne, Chief Executive and Founding Director, Somethin’ Else says: “Somethin' Else has a unique position as a genuine cross-platform production company and we are very serious about growing our business. Tom definitely has great credentials and an insight into the key elements that will make companies in the media sector grow in both revenue and value. We are in no doubt that he will be an exciting addition to the board of Somethin' Else.”

Tom Barnicoat says: “Somethin’ Else is one of the most innovative independent production companies around. They are developing practical experience of how platforms are converging, how people are consuming media and they’re able to deliver creatively strong content. I’m looking forward to working with the whole team.”
